Shanae’s Place

Nothing but a simple blog surrounding a 20-something free spirited office worker sharing the whimsy of life

New Domain :O

Hello everyone. It has been quite a few months since I’ve been able to be part of the blogging world, and much has happened. First of all, my grandmother passed away a couple of weeks ago, throwing me and my mother into quite the whirlwind of stress. As if that wasn’t enough, my husband lost his job due to downsizing a few days after. I’ll be the first to admit I did not handle any of this well and have been struggling to keep my head above water both financially and scholastically. I’m finally getting to be in a better place emotionally and learning to take every day in stride as it comes instead of worrying myself sick with things that are frankly out of my control.

As it has been a while I feel it necessary to state that we enrolled my daughter into a charter school for this scholastic year, and so far she is thriving exceptionally well, albeit a bit of boredom surfacing due to her advanced homeschool curriculum the first two years of her educational journey. She’s excited to return next year!

Despite the intense financial struggles(at one point we had utilities disconnected) we managed to pull off Christmas presents for the little one, including the barbie house she has been wanted for two years. In putting this together so it can be hidden in my closet I found her dollhouse to be so much fancier than mine was as a child. Admittedly I’m a bit jealous and hope she’ll ask me to play with her.

Unfortunately, I was not able to complete many of my 2019 goals due to one reason or another, but have decided to not give up and roll them into 2020. So that being said, here are some goals I have set forth for the early part of 2020:

  • Lose 30 more pounds
  • Continue my novella, and make it at least half through
  • Complete Level II French
  • Continue where I left off on my Web Developer Course
  • Do not cut my hair until at least June 2020
  • Fully declutter my bedroom, bathroom and kitchen

Well, that’s about all I have the energy for this evening, but I cannot tell you all how glad I am to be back in the world of blogging, and how much I have missed those of you I frequented before dropping of the face of pixellated space.

Welcome back to blogging! I am sorry to hear about your grandmother passing away and your husband losing his job due to downsizing and the financial troubles you are and have been experiencing. I know how frustrating and scary that can be. We have lost utilities at times. Cable or internet sucks but electricity and/or water is always so scary. I hope that things are going better for you guys now.

Your goals seem like great goals for 2020. I also never finished most of my goals from last year (can’t even say I remember what half of them were) so I should probably set some, though I don’t even feel like it. I hope you are able to achieve yours.

Thank you for stopping by Kirsten! I really appreciate it. I’m hoping I can complete at least about half these goals.

Thank you! It’s great to finally be back! You can bet I’ll be getting with you…after I can at least say more than two or three sentences in French that is, lol.

Welcome back to bogging! It’ pretty fulfilling I’ll tell you that! Your goals look way more attainable than mine. I’ve decided to try the whole 101 in 1001 thing again, so we’ll see how that goes! I am sorry to hear about your grandmother passing away and your husband losing his job. I know how frustrating and scary that can be to experience. Things will look up soon. I hope your trials with French go about a million times better than mine with Spanish and Korean.

Thank you so much. I’m hoping this next year will prove to be less stressful than this one has been. With any luck I’ll be well on my way to completing my masters degree this time next year. I hope you do well in your goals as well! Thank you for stopping by.
